To meet our customers where it is most convenient US Signal joined and participated in helping to develop services in four Ethernet Exchanges. Peering Ethernet at the CENX, Equinix, Neutral Tandem and Telx exchanges ensures US Signal can deliver Ethernet to its customers in the simplest, most convenient manner.
Ethernet Exhanges include the following features:
- The ability to access many independent Carrier Ethernet networks with a single ENNI
- Service mapping administered by a third party providing a seamless connection
- Rapid turn up of circuits
- An Ethernet Exchange is an infrastructure where Ethernet Service Providers can meet and exchange Ethernet traffic between their networks. Exchanges are carrier neutral environments controlled by a third party which is able to map differing services between Service Providers to make the transition from network to network effortless.
- Using an Ethernet Exchange allows an Ethernet Service Provider to exchange traffic with many other Service Providers using a Single ENNI. Utilizing an Ethernet exchange allow US Signal customer’s access to the US Signal footprint and immediate access to competitor footprints to ensure the end user is provided with the best possible rate
- Each Ethernet exchange is different but in general they stand as a switch between independent Ethernet Service Providers and work to qualify each Service Provider’s product and make sure they can interconnect. The Ethernet Exchanges also provide product and availability information about each of their members to help all members of the Exchange easily extend their Ethernet footprints.
