US Signal Adds Data Center Location in Chicago, Illinois

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., January 15, 2008 – US Signal, a leading provider of data bandwidth capacity in the Midwest today announced the addition of a new data center located at 1905 W Lunt Ave, Elk Grove Village, Illinois to its metro Chicago, Illinois network.

Customers gaining access to US Signal’s Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM) optical backbone, based on Cisco technology, at this data center can benefit by lowering network costs to their sites throughout the Great Lakes region.

“Providing services in carrier-neutral data centers is an important component of US Signal’s strategy in the Chicago market,” said Steve Oyer, vice president of sales, “This location will be critical in enabling more customers to access the US Signal portfolio of Internet, Private Line, Wavelength and MPLS VPN Services at a low cost.”

US Signal also recently completed expansion in the Northwest and Western suburbs of Chicago, to complement its existing downtown Loop and other Chicagoland points of presence, by introducing services at the following locations:

  • Elk Grove Village, Illinois – EGVGILEG
  • Oak Brook, Illinois – OKBRILOA
  • Chicago (Newcastle), Illinois – CHCGILNE
  • Hoffman Estates, Illinois – HFESILWL
  • Schaumburg, Illinois – SCBGILCO

The US Signal network, the largest in the Midwest, includes more than 700 route miles of fiber optic metro rings in 14 markets and over 3,500 route miles of long haul fiber connecting more than 100 on-off ramps, comprised of major carrier hotel locations and incumbent telephone company central offices.
